While some of Jordan Brand’s inspirations for colorways are quite clear, some, like the release of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Shattered Backboard,” are a bit more obscure. It’s latest Air Jordan 1 The Return falls into that latter category.
During the 1985-1986 NBA season, Michael Jordan’s second year in the league, he suffered a foot injury that would sideline him for a majority of the year. Upon his return from said injury, Jordan and the Bulls would take the court against the Milwaukee Bucks. And so it’s the Bucks that serve as the inspiration for this new colorway.
Coincidentally, the colorway is an appropriate one for the season as it features the festive green and red that many of us associate with the holidays. The upper consists of both suede and is complimented with a gum outsole. Releasing this Saturday, December 12, the “Gorge Green” Air Jordan 1 The Return can be had for $150 on Nike Store and select Nike retailers.Click here for reuse options!
