John Elliott Put Models in Scottie Pippen’s Best Nike Sneaker for New York Fashion Week

John Elliott just showed his Fall/Winter 2016 collection atNEW York Fashion Week: Men’s, and as expected, the apparel was outstanding. From cozy essentials to unique outerwear, this latest drop looks like a natural progression from what we’ve become used to from the Los Angeles menswear designer. However, there was one thing we definitely weren’t expecting: the Nike Air More Uptempo, made famous by Scottie Pippen in the ’90s.

That’s right — the designer sent his models down the NYFW runway laced in Pippen’s unofficial signature shoe from 1996. The AirMORE Uptempo is adorned with bold, in-your-face “AIR” branding across the side panels, making themONE of the most unforgettable sneakers of the era and in hindsight, the perfect shoe to make a statement at an event like fashion week. Elliott himself even got in on the fun, rocking a crisp white pair of the kicks, which are due for a retro release soon.

It should be noted that this isn’t the first time Elliott has put models in Nike sneakers. Last summer, he used styles like the Air Max 1, Air Max 95, Huaraches, and more. He also made his own LeBron 12 iDs for hisNEW York Fashion Week debut. Still, who could have seen something like the Air More Uptempo coming? Either way, we’re loving it.
