Ron Rivera Bans Hoverboards After Players Caught Drag Racing

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is known for taking risks, but he isn’t chancing anything ahead of this weekend’s NFC title game showdown against the Arizona Cardinals.

Eric Adelson of YahooSPORTS (h/t UproxxSPORTS’ Pete Blackburn) passed along Rivera’s rationale for banning hoverboards Monday:

“They were drag racing them in the fricken hallway!” Rivera added in reference to the hoverboards, per Fox 46’s Zach Groth.

Rivera’s Panthers improved to 16-1 this season with a 31-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round Sunday. Now Carolina is one more home win away from clinching a berth in Super Bowl 50.

Those hoverboards certainly do seem hazardous on paper and in principle. Without any handlebars to hang on to, it’d be easy for even an elite athlete to lose his balance and get hurt.
